Comparing cost, unit efficiency, and features, here is my story.

A $2,700 estimate to repair my existing system seemed like a bad investment as so far, the 7-year old 13-seer system has required $900 in repairs and replacement parts. The furnace has been trouble-free despite its 22 year age. To that end, I solicited prices on an entire HVAC system, Furnace and A/C with equipment from American Standard, Carrier, Lennox and York from several desert vendors, including one displaying at our area membership warehouse. All were first class in their representation of their products, but one company and one vendor stood out.

For the price of a low-end Lennox system via Costco, I was able to acquire a HIGH-END, HIGH-EFFECIENCY model superior to anything the others provide.

Although American Standard is commonly associated with bathroom fittings, a corporate break-up in 2007 resulted in the selling of their plumbing division and a corporate name change to TRANE, who produce HVAC systems under both Trane and American Standard. You may also be familiar with their parent company Ingersoll-Rand.

American Standard – better warranty 12 year compressor

HYDES provides Parts AND Labor for 10 YEARS with their bi-annual maintenance contract. A typical 2 hour service call would far exceed the maintenance subscription.

On offer was a Zero percent financing option for 36 months making this deal extremely attractive.

Unbelievably QUIET with variable speed compressor, variable speed outdoor condenser fan and variable speed indoor blower. Talk about COMFORT !

Some local firms have Climate System Representatives who are sales people that evaluate and provide estimates. HYDES sends out a technician and follow up is provided by company owner, Mike Hyde, who along with his brothers operate an extremely well-run organization providing 5-Star Customer Service. Not surprising that so many of their employees have worked there for years.
