For the record, the guys from Southwest Air Conditioning and Heating are great. Unfortunately, I think I bought a lemon of a system when I got a heat pump. I thought it would be sufficient for our climate but this latest cold snap with freezing temperatures has me rethinking that decision. I'm going back to good, old-fashioned furnace heat. The heat pump just can't keep up with these temperatures. Last week, the thermostat was set on sixty-six and the temperature inside was sixty-four. Now the thermostat is set on sixty-four and it is fifty-five degrees in the house. The guys from Southwest Air Conditioning and Heating tried to fix the thermostat which didn't even last a year. In the meantime, they ordered a new part for the thermostat but with the roads so bad, who knows how long it will take to get here from Lubbock. Plus, the heat pump is running on auxiliary power which is very expensive. My monthly bill for fifty-five degrees of warmth is going to be about five or six hundred dollars. I'm happy with the service from Southwest Air Conditioning and Heating but dissatisfied with the heat pump.
