Buyer Beware – My Experience with Kenwood in Frederick (Tesla Model Y Repair)
I had my Tesla Model Y repaired by Kenwood in Frederick after the liftgate was replaced, and I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the repair.
After getting the vehicle back, I immediately noticed large panel gaps and poor alignment around the newly installed liftgate. The gaps are clearly visible in the attached photos. I also had the vehicle looked at by Tesla and another Tesla-certified collision center, and both indicated that the alignment is not within expectations.
When I brought my concerns to Matt at Kenwood, he initially told me he didn’t see any problem with the gaps. Later, he said he would speak with the shop director. Shortly afterward, I received a text stating that the director had declined to perform any additional repairs and that I would need to handle the issue on my own.
I find this response completely unacceptable, especially after paying for what should have been a proper repair. As a customer, I expected the vehicle to be restored to factory-quality fit and finish, not returned with obvious alignment issues.
I am currently exploring my legal options regarding this matter.
If anyone else has had similar experiences with Kenwood in Frederick, particularly involving Tesla repairs or bodywork quality, I’d appreciate hearing from you.
The attached photos show the alignment concerns that remain after the repair.
