We had a maint tech come out because it felt like the AC wasn't cooling like it used to. The McCarthys tech came out and told us we had a freon leak and recommended replacing the unit. We paid for the call and got a second opinion since its a 10 year old unit. Another reputable company came out and found no signs of a leak that would require us to do a thorough leak check. The unit was cleaned and one pound of Freon was added. We almost dropped $5,000 because of the McCarthys tech. The employee was very nice and on time, but it almost cost us a lot of money to replace a good working unit. I don't think it was intentional, but perhaps inexperience on the McCarthy tech's part.
