Leaks within three years
Unit was installed in 2013. Few months later, I noticed air conditioned air was blowing out of the crawl space. Turns out a connection either was not hooked up or gotten unhooked. Did not replace fan or did not recommend to replace fan. A year later, fan failed. Replace fan and heater. March 2016, had to call in for service because emergence heater was on all the time. Turns out unit needs more coolant. Tech at the time said either unit was not filled up at the time of installation or it is leaking. Scale was not working, but he estimated about two to three pounds of coolant. December 2016, emergence heater was on all the time again. Had to put in three pounds of coolant. For the 45 minutes of work, I was invoiced $159.00 for diagnostic and $149 for repair with first pound of coolant plus $100.00 for the next two pounds. I think they are double charging for the time. I don't know if it is industry standard for this way of charging. Still trying to dispute the charges with their service dept. Talked to both the manufacturer and Miller Heating to find out I have to foot the cost to find out the cause of the leaking. Either defective parts or defective installation. Miller Heating said since I didn't signed up for (whatever agreement) I have to pay for leak detection. Didn't remember if I was offered the agreement. Considering finding another heating service to do the leak testing and hope I find a good one.
