My parents moved into Duncaster Independent Living in 2007. They moved from a 4,000 square foot house which had been our family home for 40 years. My Dad passed away just one year later - Mom was so grateful she wasn’t alone in that big house! By 2012, Mom needed Assistant Living, and she moved up to Thistle Way. The staff kept her active and engaged. Her short term memory loss increased and in 2015 she moved over to Dogwood Assisted Living Memory Care, in the Caleb Hitchcock building. She was never alone, and even as her memory worsened she was content, loved and given excellent care. Mom passed away peacefully from pneumonia in January, 2019. She received outstanding medical care up to her last breath. My parents move to Duncaster was an invaluable gift to me and my three siblings, as none of us still live in Connecticut. The gift of Duncaster gave me peace of mind about my Mom’s care; comfort and guidance from the staff for ME as I experienced Mom’s decline; beautiful guest rooms where I stayed when visiting; and friendships I will treasure always.
