Read the contract carefully!

In my dealings with Jasper contractor Mr. DeMeo, I was assured all I had to pay was the deductible of $1,000.00. This was done.... later on I get a invoice for a supplement of $560.00. This was not suppose to happen?! In the end Jasper will receive their $560.00. My homeowners insurance agreed to pay it. But what if my homeowner insurance didn't pay it? I would have been stuck with the bill! Jasper roofing sent me a FEW letters indication that a lien would be placed on my home if I didn't pay! Really? Read your contract and go over "“Jasper reserves the right to file a supplemental claim with Owner’s insurance in the event that the insurance company’s estimate is incorrect and/or additional damage is discovered after commencement. " This could and probably will be an extra charge!!!!

Hi Mrs. Nieves,

There still seems to be some confusion on how supplements work but I will be happy to explain it to you again. Jasper reserves the right to file a supplemental claim with the homeowner’s insurance company so that we can get paid for work that we have completed which is required by law but not originally anticipated. These amounts can either be approved or denied by your insurance company. If it is denied, you pay nothing. Therefore, the homeowner is only responsible for the amount approved by the insurance company for which they will be reimbursed. The homeowner does NOT pay out of their own pocket for any supplemental amounts that were NOT approved.

In your case, Jasper requested $560 from your insurance company for the decking re-nail which is required by building code. Once requested, your insurance company could either approve or deny it. Should they deny it, you owe Jasper nothing. However, once it is approved, that amount is due to Jasper. Once you receive the insurance check for the approved supplement amount, i.e. the re-nail of the decking, we ask that you simply forward that check to us. Your account manager was simply trying to make it easy on you and offering to pick it up. As a reputable company, Jasper will always perform work according to codes even at the risk that the insurance company may not pay the full amount for work that was performed. However, Jasper does not put this burden on our homeowners; we hope you understand now that we have been helping you all along!

Please let us know if we can assist you with anything else. We would love if you could take a moment to reconsider your review rating as your concerns were merely a matter of misunderstanding. We hope you have a great day and enjoy your new roof which adds immeasurable value for only the cost of your deductible!
