Aramendia Plumbing Heating & Air

Poor customer service- huge rip off

We were originally very pleased with the amount of time it took for Aramendia to arrive at our house after our air conditioner stopped working in the August 100 degree heat. A technician was at our house for a total of about 20 minutes, charged us $212 dollars, and gave us very little information about what had happened. We were not too upset at this point because the air was working when he left. When we returned home however, the air was not working again, so we called Aramendia to come back. They did not answer, return our call, or have the 24 hour service like they boast. We weathered another sleepless night with no AC. When we called them again in the morning, a technician was sent back by early afternoon only to tell us something completely different than the technician the day before.

I called to speak to a manager about how disappointed we were before we gave them any more of our money, and the manager never returned my call even through I spoke to a women who said he had stepped away from his desk for just a moment and would be right back. To top it off, the next air conditioning company we called let us know that the part that was replaced the day before for $212 only cost about $3, so we paid $209 for 20 minutes of work. Seems like rip off to me.

We came out to this customer's home to figure out what was wrong with her unit that was not cooling. We ran diagnostics on the unit to determine that her capacitor was bad and needed to be replaced. We replaced the capacitor on her homes outdoor air conditioner. Upon completion of the installation, our technician found no other problems. If the system had failed to start after our repair, our technician would have been able to diagnose any additional issues with the unit. The system ran without failure after it was restarted, which suggests that there were no other problems at that point in time. It is never our goal to leave our customers home without fixing the problem. To the best of our knowledge, there were no other problems with the unit. When we returned to diagnose another problem the following day, however, we found the indoor blower motor had failed.
The capacitor is an external component of the outdoor units compressor that helps the compressor run. It is either bad or it isnt. The blower motor is a part of the indoor unit that moves the air through the interior of the home. Both parts are independent of each other, but must operate together for the entire system to operate properly.
It is not our practice to condemn parts of a system that are running. That would not be honest to any of our customers. Our initial diagnosis was for a bad capacitor which was, without doubt, not working. A repair quote was provided and the terms were accepted for that repair. It is unfortunate that the blower motor failed one day after our repair, but the indoor equipment is over 20 years old, and it is impossible to determine internal wear and tear on a sealed motor. Upon initial inspection of the equipment, we would have proposed a new motor replacement if we felt that was going to be the best option for the customer, but the system ran fine after our initial repair. We understand the frustration of dealing with a unit that keeps failing. With that understanding, we make every effort to help all of our customers until they are completely satisfied.
We would like to assure all of our customers that our prices are not set with the intention of ripping anyone off. Included in this price is the cost of sending a license technician in a company vehicle to perform services on a unit. We are also responsible for providing insurance for all of our employees as well as fuel for the vehicles that are used. We always offer free estimates to customers, essentially going out to peoples homes for free. Whether or not the work is performed is left completely up to the customer. We will not do any work that is not given the approval of the home owner first.
The extreme heat wave we are experiencing locally could have been a contributing factor in the units failure. We have been overwhelmed with service calls due to this heat wave and are making every effort to help all of our customers. While other companies are scheduling customers for more than a week away we are still capable of providing service on a same day or next day basis.
