My husband and I needed transport to a location about 13 hours outside of New York. He was in no condition to drive, and our initial plan was simple (yet not tantalizing). I was going to rent a mobile home, call the EMS to have them help move my husband in, make the 13 hour drive myself, then call the EMS again to have him taken out. When I contacted the local fire department to see if they could help load him into a mobile home, they recommended that I look into calling a medical transport company. That's when I discovered ACC Medlink. We found them online, and they were totally cooperative and able to meet all of our needs. I wanted to leave NY at about 8:00 PM to miss the hectic traffic and drive overnight, and they were happy to accommodate. I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to the two drivers and the nurse they sent with us--Andrew, Debbie, and Brandy. They were so nice and made us feel comfortable. We arrived at our destination at 8:00 the next morning. I must have slept for 8 hours, my husband slept the entire ride. It was just a wonderful experience and turned what could have been a nightmarish 13 hour exodus into a pleasant (perhaps even restful!) ride.
