We are purchasing a new washer and drier for our remodeled mud room. I called last night to see if Standard had the model we're looking for in stock so that my wife could make sure that the ergonomics would work for her. "Yes we have it, and we open at 9:00AM." Perfect, yes?

No! When I walked in this morning thinking, OK we'll make a decision and get this done, I was told that "We don't stock the item, so if you want to see one, we'll have it sent over from Portland, but you'll have to pay a 10% restocking fee if we open the box and you don't buy it." That was just the beginning of uninformed and rude from the sales person. When I explained that pewter, charcoal, or black was important to my wife because of where the units would be installed, she said, "They don't make it in that color." When I said it shows on the manufacturer website, she looked it up and simply said, "Oh". Then she showed me the model online, and when I said this says "5.0 cubic feet" and the model we're looking for is 4.9 with some different features, she said, "This is your model and that's what they tell us." That's not what their website shows, so wtf? The last straw was when she asked why we wanted an LG. I said that I'd read Consumer Report and a bunch of online consumer reviews and that it was highly rated. Her response: "Well, you know that Consumer Reports gets paid by the manufacturers to rate their products higher. And we don't even service LG or Samsung since their parts are impossible to get." The CR comment is completely untrue, and it was obvious that she wanted to sell us something almost twice as expensive, so I walked and called my wife and told her not to bother looking there.

Do business with Standard at your own risk. The pre-sale customer service couldn't be worse at Costco, Lowe's, Best Buy, or Home Depot couldn't be worse, so we will not be back.
