I struggled with my decision to withdraw my original review. First, because I'm sorry, but I still don't believe that Standard TV & Appliance is providing the high quality service that they have been known for, and upon which they have built their reputation. It should not take hours of waiting on hold, multiple calls to the service dept. and screaming arguments with sales and service support staff to receive resolution of a poor service call! In fact, it should not have taken more than an hour on hold to request the original service call - and a week of waiting for a service man to be dispatched to repair a high end electric range that was less than 90 days old.

That being said, the young man who was sent to remedy what turned out to be a very small issue was prompt, couteous, and thoughtful. He resolved the complaint quickly and easily. He answered questions that helped to put our minds at ease. It is too bad he was not the service man on our initial call, or my original review might have been much better.

Standard's upper management needs to take a serious look at their service department - too long on hold waiting to speak with a live body. Inadequte training for service personnel. Poor response to bad service! Customers should not have to escalate complaints in order to get their issues resolved. Standard will soon go the way of Smith's Home Furnishings if they keep this up!

So, I have updated my review and will let this one stand. Perhaps if enough consumers take action, management will listen and respond.
