Wonderful staff and community.
My parents moved into The Shores at the end of 2014. I was involved in their move, and I figure I spent possibly 100 days in 2015 with them, staying in their apartment, and visiting with them over the course of the year. So I had the opportunity to have a kind of every-day type of experience, and all of my initial highly positive reactions were supported in the day-to-day. People were really attentive and wonderful, and I was amazed that very shortly after Mother and Dad moved in, everybody on the staff knew them by name. I think that made such a big difference. During that first year they both had some significant health issues, and I really appreciated the care that they got, and also the way in which The Shores kept me aware of what was going on. And last year, 2016, when I spent a lot more than 100 days there, my father died, and that experience, being a cause for deep grief, was also a cause for profound appreciation for everything that the staff did: the way things were handled, the support that mother and I got, and the care that mother and dad and I all received in that time. Mother is still there and has moved into the member support unit, and even though I'm 1000 miles away, I really feel part of that community. I especially appreciate the fact that any time something happens, if mother fall or there's any other kind of episode, they call me immediately, no matter what time. And so I really feel a part of what's going on, and I have an enormous amount of confidence in everything that happens at The Shores.
