I was fitted for irons at Club Champion Orlando and it was a fantastic experience. Let me start by saying that this is not the "fitting" you would get at a big box store or a demo day at your local course. It's much more than that. It is a tour player fitting for an average Joe. The sheer number of available combinations of shafts and heads is dizzying and being surrounded wall to wall with equipment will make you feel like a kid in a golf candy store.

My fitter, Jonathan, was superb. He was an invaluable part of my fitting experience. He leveraged his years as a seasoned master fitter to identify the bio-mechanics of my golf swing and his extensive product knowledge to know which particular models and adjustments would best suit my body and my swing.

I took many swings throughout my session on a Trackman simulator. This made it very easy to see which combination of equipment worked best for me. Jonathan was very patient and would remove any outliers to refine the data set for every combination that we tried. He explained what each of the data points represented and how it plays a part in your golf swing. There was no question that a particular club head, shaft, lie angle, and swing weight combination performed the best for me. No guesswork or seat of the pants type decisions. The proof was in the data pudding.

At the end of the fitting, there was absolutely no pressure at all, no shady sales tactics, no brands being pushed. Jonathan's motivation was finding the right equipment for my game. Additionally, the fitting was more fun than I imagined. The staff at the Orlando Club Champion was very friendly and professional, and they kept things light-hearted. It was refreshing seeing their interactions with each other. These guys definitely enjoy their work. I opted to buy the equipment, but I would have also been quite content even if I didn't. The enjoyable experience alone gave value to the fitting fee.

If you are considering a fitting and reading reviews to help you decide. I implore you to do it! Come into the process with an open mind and be willing to try brands/models you normally would not consider. You may be surprised at the results. I will be going back soon to get fitted for the rest of my bag.
