The Sketchiest Company Ever!!

I want to start this review by saying that I have never in all my life had to leave a review like this, but this was in fact the sketchiest company I've ever had the misfortune to work with!

I called in for a minor issue - my garage door wasn't closing properly. They sent a tech to my house who "diagnosed" (translation: misdiagnosed) my problem as an issue with the wheels on my door. Supposedly, they were old and needed to be replaced to the tune of $350. I was taken off guard by the price, but was assured by the tech the repair would solve my issue. NOT!

A couple weeks go by and I'm still having the same issue. He assured me the day of the repair that the issue would gradually improve as the newly lubricated wheels needed time to adjust. Uh-huh... So, I call back in. They send the same tech. Guess what he tells me this time? That it's not the wheels...That it's my motor, and that he'd need another $400-$500 to fix "my old motor", but was willing to give me a "credit" for the new wheels (that I obviously didn't need) but were "good nonetheless". I asked if there was anything else that could be done, and he said he could try and ""adjust the torque" on my motor to force it to close properly. He did that and it seemed to work for a day or so, but it made a horrible screeching noise. So, thinking maybe there was a problem with the tech (let's face it, he'd already admittedly misdiagnosed the problem once) and they sent out a new tech. Nice guy. He came out it and confirmed it was the motor and that the only thing I could do was install a new one.

I called into their headquarters and politely asked to speak to a manager who impolitely told me there was nothing more they could (or would) do to resolve this issue except give me the same "credit" (i.e. transfer the amount I already paid for the wheels I didn't need!) over to the cost for a new motor, which was in the $800-$900 range. This is when I officially got mad. What made it worse was how rude the manager was. I asked for a full refund and told him he could take all the wheels that had been installed back. He basically told me that they wouldn't take them back, that there was nothing I could do except call their customer service department and that he wouldn't give me my money back, nor would they. He said, "dispute the charge, if you want, but we're not giving it back". I was outraged, so I called in to their customer service department...and here's where the story got EVEN WORSE!

They must have known I was calling in, because every single time I called, they'd put me on hold (one time for almost 20 minutes). I'd call, get put on hold, hang up after no one responded and then call back, only to get put on hold again...and again...and again!!
I was so floored!! My gut told me that was coordinated, but I didn't believe it till I had my son and a friend both try and call in at the same time I was on hold. Both were patched right through to someone!!! I hung up and called back. On hold. They hung up called back - person. I'm sure you can see where I'm going....

A week or so later, I finally get through to a voicemail in the customer service department, but despite trying for weeks to resolve the issue, no one ever called me back. in the meantime, I also called an entirely different company to come out and look at my door. They diagnosed it as a problem with the sensor. They replaced my sensor for $75 (turned back the torque, since that had nothing to do with the problem) and told me there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG with my motor. I've never had one problem since and that was more than 4 months ago.

I eventually took the manager's advice and did what I'd never done - I disputed the charge with my credit card company - AND I WON. I showed my company the work done by both companies and the records of my attempt to resolve things with Garage Door Services and they agreed I had been wronged. Case closed. Or so I thought....

Until today when I checked my voicemail and heard a message from Caleb at Garage Door Services who HAD THE AUDACITY to call me to tell me that he felt they'd been wronged (um...what???!!!) because they had installed parts that they now wanted back or some form of payment to avoid collections. Wait...YOU want to send ME to collections for work/parts I never wanted and tried to give back, parts that your own techs said shouldn't have been installed???!!!

I cannot believe how horrible this company is. CALEB - IF YOU'RE READING THIS. CALL ME AGAIN, AND YOU'LL HEAR FROM MY ATTORNEY. YOU WILL NOT BULLY ME IN TO PAYING FOR A SERVICE THAT I DIDN'T NEED AND FOR A PROBLEM THAT YOUR COMPANY REFUSED TO RESOLVE IN A TIMELY MANNER. BYE, CALEB.

To everyone else reading this - do yourself a favor and steer clear of this company unless you have an extra $400-900 that you're just dying to throw away on parts/services you don't need.
