ATA Career Education

I would not recommend the LMR Program to anyone.

I recently graduated from ATA Career Education. I absolutely would not recommend the LMR program to anyone. I signed up for the courses which cost thirty-seven thousand dollars for a ten-month program. After calling around, I discovered that there were many other places out there that charged a lot less. Of course, some other places do charge a lot more too. Online is always less expensive. However, you would still have to go in person to take your labs. When you first go to them they tell you how you will make a high salary and that there is a high demand for jobs and you will get placement in the x-ray field. Come to find out, you really cannot get a job. There is a one hundred fifty bed restriction. The rate of pay was nowhere near what they estimated it to be. I was finding jobs for ten dollars per hour. I was making more than that at the job I had before I even attended their school! They also did not tell you when you signed up that you would have to attend three days each week in person and that you would have to go on your own personal time to do the labs. I wound up having to quit my job just so I could finish going to school. I did enjoy training for the course. Although, due to a death in my family I had to add time on. It took me fourteen months to finish instead of the ten months I had anticipated. Still, I could not find a job. I wound up having to get my state license as a medical assistant because it is the only way that you can find a job in this county. I was offered a job at a chiropractor's office who wanted to pay me eight dollars per hour under the table. Meanwhile, I owed thirty-seven thousand dollars in debt for student loans to pay the school for the courses. I am hoping to have the debt forgiven with the new laws that are coming in to erase student loans. As for the instructors, there was a very high turnover. Every time I went in to take my classes there would be someone else there. Barbara taught radiology and was very good at instructing. Ms. Mary was also very good. Some instructors were educated and some were not. They would pull people out of the administrative office just to fill in as instructors. There was a young boy named Eric who had just started working in the administrative office and the next day they threw him into a classroom to teach. There was a Tiffany who was good instructing, but she was only there consistently because her mother works for the business office. Then there was this one woman they brought in who they wound up having to let go. She had ADHD and she had offended many of the student with sexual remarks. For what you had to deal with it was extremely overpriced. I would never use them again!
