ATA College

Overall, it was a good experience!

I had a great experience at ATA College and am happy I got my degree from there. I wish they had a BSN program because I would go back for that. The teachers were very, very nice and I learned a lot. Unfortunately, I live far away and had about an hour drive each way, so sometimes evening classes were hard to get to on time if there was traffic. I also sometimes had problems making it to class if my daughter was sick or something. An on-line option would have worked well for me, being so far away. I would have also benefited from some externship opportunities closer to my home. I felt like the ATA late and absentee policies weren't enforced fairly for everyone and they were more strict with me that with some other people. There was also an issue with one of my partners who drew my blood and then wouldn't let me draw hers, so I couldn't get the same amount of hands-on experience. The extra fees were also not enforced equally across the board. I kept getting reminder emails about the books and lab fees while other students were obviously not planning to pay them and didn't seem to be reminded as many times by ATA like I was. Some of the rules should have been implemented more fairly. Some of the rules should have been more flexible. The program was also a little rushed at times. I scored lower on my certification that I had hoped because I didn't have enough time to prepare. If I could retake it now that I've had time to absorb more of the information, I would do better. All in all, I did learn a lot. I wish I could get a job in my new field of expertise. I'm still looking. ATA College was the right choice for me.
