We’ve lived in Ann Arbor for about 10 years now and have purchased almost all of our major appliances at Big Georges. (The TV, which we purchased online was the exception.) These appliances have included a dishwasher, range hood, refrigerator, and, most recently a washer and dryer. Our experience has always been outstanding. The repair service is the best in town, which means they don’t tell me that I’ll have to wait 2 weeks to get my refrigerator repaired!! The sales staff is always knowledgeable and understanding. The delivery guys are charming and get the old machines out and the new machines in without wreaking havoc and damaging the walls. This time around, we thought we would get a gas dryer. After we ordered the machine, we learned that, in fact, our gas line was not “good to go,” as our energy consultant advised. It was going to cost about $500 to ready the line for gas. We called back our salesman, John Mishak. In the showroom he had already explained the differences between the two brands we were considering, as well as the differences between models. Now he was able to respond authoritatively about how much we would actually save/year with a gas dryer. He quickly changed our order to an electric model,and he waived the restocking fee. Doing business with him was great! Now we have this cool new washer with fancy lights and pleasant sounds—but it’s still easy to operate!! And it has this gigantic barrel. My husband and I joke that we’ll only have to do laundry once a month. I can’t speak with great knowledge about pricing. I comparison shopped a bit, and the prices seem to be competitive. And if I have paid a bit more, I’m happy to do so for the smart, helpful, and neighborly in-store service. I am a big fan!!
