Great Office Personnel, Too Many Problems with Installers
Initially, I had a very positive experience with Energy Star prior to the installation. The office personnel were very nice and Josh, the HVAC supervisor, answered all of my questions during the estimate and in follow up calls and emails. The office personnel registered my equipment for the warranty and promptly provided me with the documentation. They were also prompt in sending out technicians to correct the problems that the installers caused.
Unfortunately, the installers did a poor job during installation, and that required 4 return visits within a week to correct those issues. For this reason, I would not recommend this company.
- The electrical outlet they installed for the condensate pump was not wired correctly, so water spilled out of the pump and all over the floor. This was discovered 15 minutes, after they left and they had to return the same day to fix it. I still do not understand why this was not tested prior to them leaving in the first place.
- There was supposed to be a safety mechanism wired to the condensate pump to prevent water spilling all over the floor. A technician had to return the next day to wire this in. This should have been done during the installation, but wasn't.
- A technician needed to add refrigerant to the system because the AC was blowing room temperature air. When he measured the pressures in the system, it was "very low." He stated that it should have been verified on the day of the installation that the pressures were adequate.
- Condensation was dripping out of the PVC exhaust from the furnace. This was because it was not sealed correctly during installation. A technician had to come back to apply silicone to seal it up.
- There was a small natural gas leak from the flexible hose that connects the furnace to the gas line. I am still shocked that they didn't make sure the gas lines were sealed properly.
I feel that the installers just rushed the job resulting in all of the problems outlined above as well as screws and wire cuttings all over the floor and purple PVC primer spilled on the floor and splashed on the washer / dryer and walls.
As stated above, Josh and the office personnel were great with getting technicians back to the house to correct these problems, but adequate testing on the installation day would have prevented these problems in the first place.
