Still waiting...

At the end of April I contacted several Pest Control Company’s to handle a rental property that I own. I spoke with Paul who seemed very pleasant and knowledgeable about what I needed to have done to solve a rodent problem that the property had. I scheduled Paul to service the property on 05/05/15. He informed me of his 6 month guarantee and stated that he would come out a second time to survey the property and patch up possible entrance points for the rodents. He met my tenant at the property during her lunch break placed out bait and informed both her and I that the mouse problem should subside in a week. According to my tenant Paul threw bait behind the stove and in a couple other areas. My tenant kept me posted on the progress of things in the townhouse. It seemed as if the problem progressively grew worse than getting better. Paul explained to me that with townhouses sometimes the problem could be bigger than just the single resident. However, we scheduled for him to come again. Paul baited the dwelling for a second time. Over the course of another week it appeared that the problem continued to get worse. Myself and the tenant reached out to Paul he proceeded to tell us both how he had already placed over the legal amount of bait in the residence. He informed me that at this time he was willing to refund us because he was already losing money with servicing this property. He informed me that I should speak with the property manager in regards to the problem. He informed me again that he believed the problem was bigger than my single dwelling. I did as he suggested. Meanwhile, the problem in which Paul stated should have gotten better actually grew worse. My tenant found another company who pulled out the dishwasher, stove and refrigerator, placed bait and other traps there and in other various places in the house. The tenant was very pleased with the service provided by this company and stated that the gentleman did things and looked in places that Paul neglected. She even mentioned to me that Paul stated that I didn’t really care about her and her problem and that’s probably why I wasn’t staying in the dwelling because there was an infestation. My tenant knew better than to believe this because she knew that our family had expanded and the dwelling was no longer big enough, and beyond this I had been in constant follow up with her in regards to the problem. Needless to say I followed up with Paul and informed him that we had found another company and would like the refund that he stated he would give. He then began to tell me that I should recommend to the property manager that he come out and do the entire row of houses for $2,000. He claimed that he was not trying to up sale me and that I should work with the neighbors to break up the cost. However, that is exactly how I felt being that I called him to get my money back after going to another company that my tenant felt better about. Sidebar, she is not seeing mice. I explained to him that we went with another company and I was looking to get my money back. He began to tell me that he was only willing to give me half of my money back because they did come out. At this point I was not willing to argue I felt that something was better than nothing. For the better half of three weeks Paul and I went back and forth trying to make arrangements to meet up to get the refund. Paul told me everything from the company’s trucks were down to he was servicing other customers in South Jersey. Many times that I called he stated that he was too busy to take my call. One time I called he stated that he would call me back and I ended up calling him the next day. Another time when I called he informed me that I was interrupting his call and that he would have to call me back at another time. This I thought was very rude. Finally we just settled on him mailing me the refund. I text him my address as soon as we hung up the phone. I waited two weeks and received nothing in the mail. I called him and he proceeded to give me a laundry list of excuses. I informed Paul that I thought that I was being very patient and considerate. However, I felt that he was providing horrible customer service and at this point was now inconveniencing people. He suggested meeting up with my tenant to give her the money. I informed him that I would rather not inconvenience her with something that he and I should be able to handle. I believe that Paul got upset because he then informed me that he did not wish to meet up with me and was only willing to refund my money if the tenant said it was okay. I am to this very minute still waiting on my money. It appears Paul is only pleasant and willing to be helpful as long as the situation lines his pockets. Otherwise, he is rude and inconsiderate. At one point he informed me that I should look at the reviews on his site, he came highly recommended. I question was his ethics as horrible with them as they were with me. I mean who slanders a paying customer to their tenant. I guess he thought I was a slum lord and she wouldn’t tell me.
