Anthony & Sylvan Pools

1983 Anthony & Sylvan Pool

We have an Anthony & Sylvan pool built in 1983 in a previous home that I owned and it was a positive experience. Their renovation design consultant had a single visit. He reviewed and outlined the scope of the work, and offered comments of the desirable things to be incorporated. He also provided references for ancillary work, concrete levelling, and he provided reliable references for us. It was a complete renovation of the tile, coping, sandblasting of some previously painted surfaces in the spa, and a refurbishing of the finish of the main pool.

The rep from the office in South Eastern Pennsylvania coordinated and she was an exemplary individual in terms of retention, either memory or note-taking, of all outstanding issues which she promptly addressed. We did a demolition in fall and had the pool emptied, did the tile and coping, and then the surface refinishing in spring. According to a contracted schedule, which was fantastically adhered to, we had the thing up and going as soon as the weather broke in April.

With our newly renovated pool we had limited choices on tile and coping, but it turned out that in that limited choice, one was exactly what we had in mind. And the more updated, natural, brownish tone of the coping and the square tile eliminated the earlier marine mosaic which was common in pools so the former white coping was much more attractive. Its appearance has been universally acknowledged to be very attractive by all people who see it and knew the pre-refurbishing condition so I'd recommend them to the friend.

The only negative was that they had personnel issues back in the fall which was beyond their control. Sales personnel had either health or personal situations which delayed a prompt appointment. But after they got involved, it went on smoothly. In fact, I just have an unresolved issue with them right now of a warranty thing about the grouting adhesive on the tile of the vertical surfaces has deteriorated, didn't hold up very well. I'm waiting for them to get back on the warranty issue on that one. Other than that, we've been very pleased. That's all you can hope for when you get involved with a contract.
