Mr. Handyman of Upper Fairfield County

So Disappointed

What happened with Mr. Handyman of Upper Fairfield County was so distressing to me. Bob was excellent, he really helped coordinate, he's a genius. Regina, her interaction with the customers is impeccable. I hired them to do some touch up painting on my rental house. I showed the guys where the paint was and told them what to paint. While they were there I asked if they could do some caulking in the bathroom on the tub and 2 sinks. It would take about an hour. I told them I would pay for the extra time and that it would need to be a separate job from the painting job and that I would need 2 separate bills. The guy said yes. I said I needed each bill to state very specifically what was done on each job. Paint, spackle, sanding, etc. I needed it done like this because my previous tenant was responsible to pay for the painting, but, nothing else. One of the bills said something about carpentry when it should have said plumbing or painting. Now, because the bills were worded incorrectly, my tenant is suing me for $5000. They are saying I tried to charge them for work being done that they were not responsible for. I have contacted the company billing department and have asked them to resolve this and send me new bills for the work that was done, but, I haven't received them yet. I even gave him my credit card to put through twice for each separate bill. They had to come back to finish the painting job so I gave them the code to get in and went over what he was to do since I wasn't going to be there when they arrived. When i got there, the guy said he had been waiting for over an hour and only painted 2 spots. He claimed the paint didn't look the same. I explained that it wouldn't look like the other when it was wet. When it dried it looked fine. I went back after he left and seen that he had missed spots that needed to be painted. He had spackled and sanded, but, didn't paint over it. I called and was told to make an appointment for the guy to come back. On that day I went to the house and waited for 3 hours. Regina had called and said he was going to be an hour late. After 3 hours I called her and she said he got tied up and couldn't make it that day. He didn't come back until after the tenant moved in. He missed a big long dark spot on the wall where the couch was or something. When I mentioned this he said he was only doing 2 spots. I pay them for their time, not by the job description. The quality of the work that the guy did the very first time I used this company was very very good. This guy did do a good job on what he did, but, the spots he missed are very noticeable. I was going to have them stain the deck this summer, but, everything got so messed up that it doesn't seem like it would be worth the money or the stress to have this company do anything else for me. If I could break down the rating system I would give the people who were courteous, polite, professional, and took an interest in what they were doing 5 stars. For the quality of the actual job, I would give them 0 stars. I'm just heartbroken about this. I thought I had found a good company that I could count on when I needed them. It ended up being a disaster. I cannot recommend them to anyone.
