This is the worst experience I have ever had with any business. I had to call the police on John.

It started out by me getting a referral from another refinisher that was too busy to work. I called John told him I needed a tub done in Irvine for a condo I am moving into. He said he would go over and inspect it. The tub had a large crack in it so it cost me an extra $175 to fix for a total of $700. He told me that he had to order the materials on Amazon and that it would take a day or two. A little strange that this is his business and he doesn’t have the materials but whatever. Fine. As he was finishing it he called me up and told me that it would be done the next day. I told him I live in LA and that I would drive down during the week and look at it. That’s when things got weird. He started getting upset “I need to be paid immediately!” Well I’ll pay you this week. I said. “I need it now! The work has been done! Where’s my payment.” He said. I told him I would have to see it. “You have pictures isn’t that good enough!?!?!” Then he went on and on about how he has bills and every client pays him as soon as the job is done. This guy is a licensed contractor. I don’t know how and I guess not for long. I told him to relax that I would come down in the next few days and pay him. I said I would be paying by credit card. Then he really flipped. “WHAT!?!?” I’ve only done 4 credit cards in 12 years. I need cash or check.” I told him I had to pay with credit card (which he accepts). He continued to flip out. “I need my money. I want it tomorrow.” This guy then calls me 4 times for the next two days and threatens to damage my property if I don’t pay him immediately. He says “You think you had a crack before. I’ll put an even bigger crack in your tub” I can’t believe he is threatening me. This is ONE day after he finished the work. I tell him I will pay him this week and that I have to see the work. I tell him “You have my address, my phone number and my email. Why are you afraid I’m not going to pay you?” “ He just keeps saying “I need to get paid. I’m $78 in materials for this job” $78. Are you kidding me? That’s nothing in materials.
Wed 8/23/2017 I go to the property to see the work. When I get to the door I open the lockbox and the key is gone. HE STOLE THE KEY to my apartment!! I call him up and say “Where is the Key?” “I have it.” he says. “I tell him he better bring that key back in 20 minutes or I’m calling the police.” He says “I was waiting for you to come down. I forgot that I had it.” What a liar! He forgot? He stole it and he did it on purpose. 20 minutes goes by and he’s not there. I call the police. When he shows up he’s so scared that the cops are there he acts like there is no problem. He takes my credit card and then makes jokes about my job. He has researched me!! SO WEIRD! The cops even say that he changed his tune as soon as he saw the them. I had them take a report just in case this guy tries to harm me or my property.
This guy has mental problems!! DO NOT HIRE HIM! There are enough of these companies to fix your tub. I have been managing property for 14 years. I have NEVER dealt with anyone like this! Take your business elsewhere and stay away from this guy. He unstable, rude and threating. Work with him and you may have to call the police!
