I like Choate's Air Conditioning, Heating, & Plumbing and I am going to keep on using them, but I am only going to rate them "Average" or "Three Stars" on everything. First, I was concerned that my relatively new air conditioning unit was leaking coolant, so I called them. This was during some very hot weather. One of their service techs promised to call me back but he never did. I understand that they were super-busy, but they should have called me back. Then, they often try to sell me things that I don't really need, like some kind of light bulb to clean the air. I went online to read up on this and discovered that an air filter works just as well. They also upcharge too much on some of the parts. I checked up and the part was only $4.99 on Amazon, but their parts and labor ended up being about $600. I know there was labor involved, but that still seemed high. I also had a situation where they talked to one of my renters about some work instead of talking to me first. So that is why I am giving them Three Stars. But they can also do a very good job on other occasions. One of their service techs was very honest and told me straight out that I did not really need to do one of the recommended services. I really appreciated that. He was also great about getting the heat pump working properly. He would get Five Stars from me! The company is also good about their service overall. I have a maintenance contract with them and their service people are all very professional and friendly. They know what they are doing. So I will continue to use them and I would recommend them to others. Most of the time they are really good, but I just had a few issues with them that I needed to put out there.
