Leesburg Sterling Family Practice

Lack of Compassion and Support

Latenight, Sunday, Jan 4, while walking our dog,I had a bad fall. Somehow, I managed to get my foot wedged under our stone walkway, twisted it very badly and came crashing down. It was very painful dragging myself inside, and hoisting myself upstairs, grabbing onto banisters and railings. Finally, I was able to get myself situated in bed with cell phone, close to a bathroom, where I have pretty much been, ever since. Home alone, unable to drive or get around the house at all. My husband was 1600 miles away, putting his recently deceased mother to rest and settling her affairs.

Since the results of my fall worsened, I randomly looked up a GP online and got the Sterling Family Medical Practice on Cornwall, adjacent to the INOVA hospital in Leesburg. The lady at the front desk, and everyone else answering phones seemed pleasant and helpful. However, repeatedly, wrong or incomplete instructions were given on how to find their office, and later the imaging lab in the INOVA building. This meant I had to traipse around on pavement, cement, and hard floors with a broken foot and toes, trying to find my way. On seeing me, and suspecting my foot was broken, no help was given on and off the examining table, nor did they offer me a wheelchair. Further traipsing on concrete, in the wrong direction followed, per yet another set of bad directions. My concern now is that walking around the INOVA building on a broken foot may have damaged me further, as I have experienced additional sharp pains in my foot radiating upward. I left a message with staff for Erin, the Cornwall office manager, but she has not responded. To her credit, an RNP from Sterling at Cornwall called me in the lab that day, and offered to make an appointment for me with Dr. William Knudsen, a podiatrist/surgeon. The following day, on speaking with them, Knudsen's office offered to meet me in front of the building with a wheelchair, which was very kind and thoughtful. To date, I am not scheduled for surgery,

Needless to say, I would not recommend that the Cornwall office at INOVA in Leesburg. Perhaps it was the moon or planets, but my experience was not good!
