Awful

My experience with Arpin Van Lines has been absolutely awful. I am extremely disappointed to see from the reviews on this site that many other military service members have had bad experiences with Arpin. They were contracted to pick up my household goods in May. After about a week passed and I had not heard from anyone at the company, I called Arpin and they said they would not be able to pick my stuff up until 1 July. I understand that summer is a busy time of year for moving companies, so I was fine with moving my stuff into a storage unit. However, my household goods were not picked up 1 July as promised. I ended up having to pay $100 a month for the storage unit for 3 months. I never heard from anyone from Arpin before or after the date my goods were supposed to be picked up. I spent much of my free time during my Army training at this time trying to contact Arpin. My many phone calls went unanswered and the voicemails I left were never returned. I tried various Arpin phone numbers: their line for service members, the number for a representative Melissa who is supposed to assist service members, the number on their website, and their 1800 number which repeatedly transferred me to the military line that no one answered. The military transportation office was finally able to contact someone with the company on 30 July and they said my goods had to be picked up the next day. This was extremely inconvenient because I was over 1000 miles away and had only a few hours to find someone in the area who would be available the next morning and could get the key to let the movers into my storage unit. The woman I spoke with had some vague explanation about their contract running out at the end of the month which meant my stuff had to be picked up immediately. It is now 14 August and I am again playing the game of calling every Arpin phone number possible to find out where my household goods are. The military transportation office is also trying to help me find them. It has been nearly 3 months of trying to get my household goods moved. I have been at my new duty station for almost a month without any of my household goods. I sincerely hope that I will never have to use Arpin again for a military move.
