Tried to get me to pay more becasue they could not do the job.

I scheduled a service because my door was crooked and a roller had come off the track, the tech came in was very courteous and told me that he had to order the parts that were needed and he had to come back. He came back the next day and started to work, when he then called me and told me he could not remove a bolt and in order to fix my problem he had to replace more parts which essentially was going to add $200 to my initial quote, or he also suggested that I could replace the whole door. I told him I would think about it and just paid the service call cost, I then called another company to get a second opinion they were able to show up at my house within 2 hours with the material needed and removed the bolt without a struggle and fixed my door. I was really disappointed at the fact that O'Brien tried to take advantage of my situation and up sell me. I don't know much about garage door but I know that a bolt should not have doubled the cost of the job.

The door was off track. The vertical track was bent from the door coming off track when the door closed on an object. The technician needed to order vertical track, top brackets, and cables. When he began to replace the bent vertical track he was not able to loosen the bolts from the connected horizontal track because they were completely stripped. He called you to let you know that he would need to order the horizontal track as well as the vertical track which added the additional cost to the repair for parts and labor. He put your door back on track to make it temporarily operational; he wanted to make sure the door was down and secure while you decided which avenue of repair you would like to take. This was a value of $125.00 by itself. Because he was not able to fix the entire system the same day, the technician waived the cost for the repair he had completed and only charged you a service call.

The other company had a pre-diagnosed issue. I'm sure you explained what our technician told you when you called them so they were able to come to your home with the parts needed the first visit. There are only 2 ways to fix the issue you had. They replaced the vertical and horizontal tracks in one piece which resolved the bolt issue. Or, and hopefully this is not the case, they spliced the track by cutting out the piece of track at the point where the bolt was stripped and replaced it with a new 3-4" piece and attached new flag brackets and a lot of screws to hold in place. This is not a good repair. If this is the case you should definitely have another company look at it. This type of repair will cause long term issues. Either way the door was already back on track when they got there which is the bulk of the labor cost. The fact that this part of the repair was already completed saved you a lot of money.

It is very hard to explain an issue over the phone so we understand why you were confused about the recommendations. We asked that you remove your review since the facts were not accurate, but you declined. If you have any questions, our service technician, and or service manager would be happy to discuss this situation with you. We value your business and hope that we can resolve this situation.
