My garage door decided to start acting up recently and I was hoping it was merely the result of garage door seasonal affective disorder (aka garage door winter blues) that a few minor adjustments and a dash of positive ju-ju could remedy. While the initial symptom of a wheel coming off track was easily treated by aligning the culprit wheel back into the rail (which didn’t appear bent, etc), the condition persisted/worsened days later when the wheel came back off track and the pull cable came off the spool. Though I was able to (temporarily) self-remedy the issue again, when I later pulled the manual release cord to operate it manually, I also noticed the door wouldn’t stay up, which according to my extensive research on the interwebz seemed to indicate that the springs were also likely no bueno. The next time I went to test the door again, it got stuck halfway up (or down, depending on your philosophies as they pertain to life and/or garage doors) and the cables/wheel also “came undid”.

At this point I was “so over it”… I threw my hands up in the air like I just didn’t care, hung up my Fisher Price tool belt, and decided that if I was going to continue having any sort of relationship with this garage door, we were going to need professional help to make things work. Unfortunately this spiritual awakening took place on a Monday afternoon... the businesses I initially tried calling were already booked for the day and wouldn’t do an extra visit without an emergency add-on fee. As luck would I have it, my garage had been discretely sticker bombed with the contact information for O’Brien Garage Doors which I stumbled upon and I gave them a call. I asked if they still had any appointments for the day and while the woman I was speaking with advised they already were booked up, she also then asked what was going on and after I explained the situation I was pleasantly surprised that she offered to squeeze me in to get it taken care of. Pretty cool, right? But it gets better…

They called me later to give me a heads up that someone was on their way and the gentleman that came (Justin) was awesome! He was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and didn’t mind me asking a bajillion questions to get a crash course in Garage Doors 101. He ended up replacing the old worn cables, adjusting the tension on the springs, making sure all the bolts were tightened, and lubricating everything… didn’t seem to take long and I thought the price was very fair, not to mention the free garage door lesson for a first time home owner (jackpot). I even received a follow up email the following day to ask about my experience and ensure I was satisfied with everything. Each person I interacted with at O’Brien Garage Doors was fantastic and every step along the way I felt that they really cared about providing their customers with exceptional service… Thanks so much for everything!
