Good Haircut. Bad Pricing.
I was a frequent customer of Max until recently. They have a good selection of Aveda products, skilled and professional stylists (I get a businessman’s cut every 4-5 weeks and have used two different stylists there—both of whom were excellent), and okay music in the background. Cuts include both a shampoo and a (very relaxing) scalp massage, and are performed well, with free touchups offered. Although the feel of the place is less than luxurious, and they do not have a barber on site (so no shaves, gentlemen), it’s still a good place to get your haircut. In fact, I’d still be a customer other than a recent 10-15% price increase which put their services outside of the range that I considered a fair value (for comparison, I now pay $33 for my haircut, before tip, so I’m not a Great Clips cheap-cut kind of guy).
