Outstanding Service
This review comes from a Boerne Tx. customer who purchased a replacement system from Climate Magic in Feb. of 2000. Gary and crew initially installed a 3 ton Bryant system. I was very impressed with the efficiency of the crew and the outstanding workmanship. They put the air handler in my attic, something none of the Boerne HVAC people were interested in doing and built in a cat walk to ease servicing. We had an Indian summer in 2000. Temps got up to 107F a number of times and the unit cooled well.
For reasons that neither they nor Bryant engineers could ever figure out, the unit stopped cooling efficiently in the spring of 2001. Gary and crew + the Bryant engineers made several trips to my home to resolve the issue. They eventually upgraded to a 4 ton unit, also a Bryant.
Martin continued to service the unit(spring/fall) for a couple of years. I think they were growing tired of the trip to Boerne twice a year. One of their people recommended a local HVAC person to do annual spring/fall maint. work. He had tech skills, but for a number of reasons, I stopped using his service after the Spring 2014 visit. It was time to look elsewhere for HVAC service.
Recently, the 15 year old contactor in my outside unit gave up the ghost. I took a chance and hired a local HVAC to fix it. For those who don't know, an HVAC contactor is analogous to the old points and condenser setup that was used years ago in automotive ignition systems. This "points" set lasted 15 years. While there, he asked how old my unit was and was shocked when I told him. My unit looks almost as good today as it did the day Climate Magic installed it in 2001. A few years ago the City of Boerne needed to kill my gas service temporarily due to gas work being done in the area. Once done, one of their crew(a form HVAC tech) went up in my attic to light the pilot. He told me the installation work he saw in the attic was the best he had ever seen.
After I dismissed the last HVAC tech I mentioned above, I started doing a lot of my own maint. work - air filter changes, evaporator area clean out and drain line check, vacuum out leaves from the inside of the compressor/condenser unit every spring + gentle hosing down of condenser coils, etc., etc. HVAC service in Boerne has never impressed me the way Climate Magic's did.
I've yet to see anyone who has ever been as thorough as Martin, one of the HVAC techs at Climate Magic. If you're a San Antonio resident, I think you'll have a hard time finding a more efficient crew than Climate Magic. If you hired them, consider yourself lucky.
