Not fit for purpose

Leaving aside that a couple of years ago we and two friends in Frenchman’s Reserve paid to have the “ dress rehearsal “to put our shutters up and paid the annual retainer to have our shutters put up during a hurricane warning and the shutters were not only NOT put up, nor did GHM tell us that they were not up the DIDN'T even have the decency to tell us they were not up (friends - phoned us concerned that our shutters weren’t up , we have had another terrible experience with GHM.

Despite watching our house over the summer, we returned to find out water heater leaking, which is not GHM ‘s fault they just didn’t see it !

A plumber was called by GHM when we advised them of the problem - we were them presented with a bulk invoice and when we asked for the breakdown we found that the plumber and his assistant were charging a total of $370 per hour - despite the plumber’s own website saying. “Efficient and cost effective” I have no idea whether there was any kickback to GHM but who charges such an hourly rate. ?

On top of that we found that after the water heater had been changed that one of our showers wasn’t working - one of the same that GHM are suppose to check when they visit the house. We were quoted $260 to have it repaired.

We wrote to GHM on the 12th December asking for an explanation to the charges - We were ignored.

We followed up the request to be told that a reply would be forthcoming - nothing was ever received !

We terminated our relationship but the final kick into he teeth was that this “supposed” broken shower was in fact not working as the valve contracting the shower had simply been turned off - so while we were told that it needed “expensive parts” and “plumber time” to repair, it was just a case of turning the water on !

I again wrote to Chip telling him of this but again have not even had a reply.

These experiments have taught us the following;

1 Don’t count on your shutters being put up even if you pay in advance for them to put up.

2. Be careful when GHM engage tradesman on your behalf.

3. Don’t expect response should you have a complaint
