I tried to set up an appt for a internal medicine specialist. Was told they couldn't get her in for over 2wks. My cat was having rapid breathing & not eating. She would not make it that long. They told me to get her seen sooner she would need to come in through the ER. I said I was on my way, the lady said she would get my chart ready.
I arrived and they told me that it was going to be a couple hours wait and I needed to go to my car. Never did they say anything when I had just called about waiting hrs in my car. Went to my car. After an hr I got a call asking what was going on. I explained again. 1st thing the lady says "this is going to be about $1200 to let you know" I asked how can she give me prices before the vet has even looked at her & what is that price exactly for. The FRONT DESK PERSON who has not even seen my cat tells me that's the cost to have her seen, x-rays, blood work and ultrasound. I asked her if I can have a vet look at my cat before she tried to start to charge up my CC. My vet had just done x-rays & blood work the day before & said that they were emailing over all this so I didn't have to have the same test ran again less then 24hrs later.
Get put in a room and they say my vet is not sending them what they asked and waiting for that. They took my cat and said that they were going to take her vitals and be right back. 3HRS LATER no cat is God knows where, no word what is going on. Vet comes in to say that they are still waiting for my vet to send them xrays and blood work. She can't look at my cat without seeing them 1st. I asked why no one was telling me what was going on. I could have drove & picked them up. I said I would get on the phone & call myself. NOW she says, "let me try to give them a call" I called and my vet told me they had sent them over 3 times. Don't know what they are doing with them but they can show me proof they were sent. Then I hear the lady at the front desk say, ow I have them but I can't open them. This goes on for an hour.
The vet says that she needs to do other blood test & see what those results say. Another 3hrs go by. Nothing I still don't know where my cat is and if they are doing what they said that they were doing. I finally get so upset not being told what is going on & now been sitting in a cold room for almost 5hrs. Asked the front desk what's going on. Vet comes in saying they were busy & will get her blood as soon as they can. I was told hours ago that was being done. Told I could leave to go get something to eat.
7hrs later into this visit I ask if I can see my cat, where is she & what are they doing to her. They bring her back to me. I ask if she has been offered any food or water. They tell me know cause if they still need to run her blood & do a test that she can't have food in her belly. I can't believe that I bring my cat in for not eating & you guys are making her sicker by holding off doing any test that I was told were already done & I already paid for and not even offering her anything. I have little snacks that I was able to get her to eat. Just over 8hrs the vet finally says that they need to keep her over night, they are going to do a bunch of meds and things to her. She used lots of big words & when I asked questions the vet got really upset and almost yelling at me that she is giving me all this info. I don't understand what this word & that word means so don't get mad that I'm asking questions.
These people have no respect for people time. We are nothing but a bank roll for them. They will tell you they are doing something & maybe a couple hours later it will get done. They like to point fingers at each other, say that they have an emergency to get out of helping you.
The next day was no better. I did get a call at 6am to say that she ate. The vet would call me between 11-12pm. Never called. I called at 1215p, they said she's not avail had an emergency come in. I called back at 130pm. Ow we were about to call you. I want to talk to some co workers what they think, you can come get her at 430pm. I get there & sit for another hr. The vet says that she is doing better. They have no clue why she is breathing the way she is or why she wasn't eating. (by the way they still have not brought me my cat) She goes over suggestions of more scans & scoping.
Starts to list off a bunch of meds that she wants to send home with me. It was so many & trying to understand what they were for. I asked if she could write them down & what they were for. I knew my vet had also given her meds. Didn't want her double up on meds. the vet got very upset saying that she knows how to do her job very well and knows what my cat has taken.
The info she was giving me was different then what my vet told me. Vet said that she would call my vet & get paper to write the meds done to help me understand.
i told her I did not want to sit her another 8hrs. Anytime that they say that they have to do something 2-3hrs go by. When you ask a question you have to wait 1-2hrs to get an answer. I wanted my cat & to go home before midnight.
At this point I'm tired of all this. I told her out right I didn't trust her, I don't trust a hospital that can't communicate with people or get something done when they say they will.
When checking out I said I wanted my cats medical records. they said that they didn't have any. The vet needed to type them up. I asked if they had anything even from the day before. They said that they had nothing & would email. I laughed and said I know how your email works. Call me when they are done, I will come pick them up. I would bet that I never get that phone call.
My cat is home and now scared of everything. I can run the vacuum around her & she never gets bothered. Now if I move to quick she gets scared.
The vet lied! Her breathing is not any better what so ever. When I got her home, she ran to her food & stared to eat like she hadn't eaten in days. I'm grateful that she is eating but tell me that something that is not true. Is this why I wasn't allow to see my cat till it was time to leave? Trust is something that one earns.
Then they wonder why I don't truth them.
