While the end result service was fine, the way the prices were presented and options were presented left lots to be desired. I simply needed a tune-up of my water heater - a flush of the system and cleaning of the filter I later learned. But the technician presented me with two paths - a completely new system that would have cost thousands or a menu of five service plans, the first one starting at $1,000. Remember, my water heater was having periods of not heating the water consistently, but overall was working well. He told me at that top level I would get their very best work, they would take their time and do all sorts of safety checks. I asked him if I really needed all this, that the water was just occasionally luke-warm. He said probably not, handed me his iPad with five options and price points and said "What one do you want then?" Of course, I had no idea. I just wanted consistent hot water. When I chose the lowest prices option, called the Band-Aid, he really pushed back and wanted to make sure I was certain that was the right choice. Again, how was I to know? I almost asked him to leave but with out of town guests coming in, needed the work done. So I signed for the lowest option - $340 - and 45 minutes later the work was done. As I was paying, he told me I should have this flush done every year. I told him I didn't want to spend $340 that regularly and he said that it would only be half that much and that they often run specials - just ask the person who answers the phone.

Looking back, I felt totally taken advantage of. If I had known to ask for a flush and cleaning of the filter, I would have paid much less. And I'm realizing now that there are probably more options available than just the menu he presented to me on the iPad. But I didn't know, he didn't offer any other choices and I needed the work done.

Their pricing was deceptive. I wonder how much unnecessary work they charged for over the years by this practice. They say they are a referral based business. Well, I'm telling all my friends to stay away and ca someone else.
