After 28 years of home ownership I recently filed my first insurance claim for damages resulting from a dishwasher malfunction. I was unsure of what to do so I called my local agent who put me in contact with the adjuster.
The adjuster was literally no help in explaining the process of how the claim would be handled or what my options were. All she said was she would handle it by first sending out Servpro to install dehumidifiers and assess the damage. After a week with no one showing up I contacted the adjuster to find she forgot to make the call. By now my floor is ruined & I am told an abatement crew would come out to remove the flooring because of asbestos. When I returned home I was shocked to see how carelessly the abatement crew did their work. The entire sub-flooring was removed, our lower cabinets were busted & every wall in the kitchen & dining area was damaged. The situation was much worse now and my wife was in tears.

Because of the extensive damage resulting from the initial delay by the adjuster and the extra damage caused by the abatement team, the repair took several weeks to complete but I am happy to report that all is well at our home now. We are very pleased with the quality of the work and the materials used by Preferred Restoration. Our kitchen and dining room looks better than before the incident. Besides his professional service, Robert was also very kind and empathetic with my wife. He seemed genuinely concerned about her health issues and the added stress this incident had caused her in the beginning. That personal interaction means a lot to me. I will be sure to ask for Preferred Restoration for any future problems or for any planned home improvements. I wish I had known they also handle all types of cleanup and remediation. I would have asked for them to handle the whole claim. I think their service is better because it is a privately owned business and he understands both sides of the business. They are committed to helping the customer and assure we are satisfied. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
