We had a blockage in our main sewer line and called Ben Franklin after a friend recommended them. They were there on time - actually beat me to the house by 15 minutes - and the plumber they sent was friendly. He looked at the problem and talked me through the service and the prices and I was taken aback. It cost nearly $700 for him to run a snake through the sewer line, plus $80 for the service call. It would have been another $290 for him to remove the toilet and reset it if he didn't need to leave to get the machine, leaving me with the time to pull the toilet off myself. Perhaps this is the going rate, I don't know, but I'd rather pay by the hour for future services rather than be nickle and dimed every time the plumber scratches his head.
