My father came in needing help with a remote opener that was not working. They sold him a LiftMaster universal remote for $55. It did not work with his opener and was completely unnecessary as a fix. The garage door motor was a rotating code type and the existing remote merely got out of sync. After we reset it the old remote worked fine. I came to return the universal remote and was told they don't take returns on electronic items ("especially on credit card purchases", whatever that means). Nothing in their paperwork inidicates this policy, which the gentleman at the counter indicated was the owners policy. While there another employee indicated that another "older gentleman" tried to return the same item the week earlier. She tried to indicate it must have been my father. This was not the case as we were traveling together over the New Year. I highlight this as it's clearly a trend to sell older people stuff they don't need and does it solve the problem and then refuse take a return.
