Dealership said I needed a new Engine... Apex saves the day
I had a check engine light come up on my Subaru (CEL) I tried the usual suspects and eliminated them. So I took my Subaru to the dealership thinking its my best option to diagnose since they know my engine best. WRONG.
I was in and out of the dealer for weeks as they tried various things and in and out of my wallet as they bled me dry. Finally after already charging me over a thousand dollars in various 'fixes' the dealer claimed I needed a new engine or a rebuild. I went to Apex for a second opinion.
One phone call with Chris and describing my symptoms led him to correctly conclude "that doesn't sound right". I brought the car in and they did a very thorough test. My cars problem occurred more frequently in the cold, so Apex asked to keep car for a few days. They did diagnostics in cold starts and warm, Apex found out all I needed was a valve adjustment (caused rough running) and also they flow tested my injectors and found two were consistently under flowing. (Dealer said injectors were ok, but I saw Apex's results with my own eyes, the dealership was either incompetent or lied to my face and didn't test them at all)
Apex fixed my problem for thousands less than the dealership wanted, did it right, and they were professional and courteous the entire time. I am more than pleased with my experience. The service manager communicated with my much more than I was used to and even followed up after two weeks to make sure the problem was gone. The techs were knowledgeable and explained everything they were doing and why. I would, and will, recommended them without hesitation.
