Hayward Auto Care

no stars for this crooked shop

I brought my car to Hayward Auto Care simply on the ratings from yelp. WAS I EVER DISAPPOINTED. My car wouldn't start and I needed a brake job. I brought my car to Kent and told him I didn't know why my car wouldn't start but it was draining the battery. I also told him I needed my brakes done because they were grinding. I was told by Kent that he would do a diagnostic as to the reason why my car wouldn't start. Later that day I was told that there was a wire that needed replacing within the ignition and that's why my car wouldn't start. I was quoted a price of $295. They hadn't diagnosed the brakes as of yet so I said go ahead and fix the car so it will start. They also called me later on in the day as well and told me that my front brake calipers needed replacing. The brake fluid was contaminated and it froze my calipers. I never heard of anything like that but I agreed to go ahead and fix it. My total bill came out to $952 dollars.
Now from the get go that was a lot of money to me but I needed my car to get from point A to point B so I agreed. When my BF went to pick up the car we paid the amount and one of the mechanics drove the car up to my BF. It was already running, so he drove it off and went to the store. As soon as he got back into the car and tried to start it the alarm system went haywire. It kept going off and he couldn't start the car. I called Kent and he went to the store to try and figure out what happened. Whatever the reason why my car wouldn't start was the very reason why I brought it to Kent to fix. They told me the alarm had nothing to do with the reason why the car wouldn't start but that was not true. They never reset the alarm and didn't know how to set the alarm. They finally got it started and told me to take it right home. I did and as soon as we parked the car it wouldn't start again. I called Kent and explained to him that whatever he fixed on the car was not right. It was still doing what I said it was doing when I brought it to him. He never provided a diagnostic report or even offered for me to take the car back in and find out what was wrong.

The next day the battery was dead. After doing research on our own we found out how to reset the alarm and my BF reset it. After that the car was working great. No problems.

Kent beat me out of $295. He also fixed my brakes which aren't even working that great. It squeaks when I push down on the brake pedal BUT I WILL NOT TAKE MY CAR BACK TO HAYWARD AUTO CARE because they are crooks. I would not trust them again with my vehicle.
