I called Schmidt to diagnos an issue with one of my AC units. Turns out that is was the ECM Blower fan motor. A check with carrier revealed I was covered under manufacturer warranty. (I hope so as the system is less than 5 years old. Cost of part is about $200.00, Here's where they get you...The labor is not covered under the warranty of the system (only the part). Called the installer (Airtron) absolutely no help at all...Schmidt ordered the part and it was installed in less than an hour at $428.00. I don't know any job that the labor rate is $428.00 an hour...highway robbery. It took no specialized tools or training...it was all plug and play...now the tech..(Eric) was knowledgeable and very courteous and did good work...but $428.00 is too much..They told me there was a install charge list and actually $525.00 was the rate for the replacement of the ECM fan motor...ridiculous to say the least. Service was great as was the Tech. Price is high. Workmanship and due diligence to protect your home and property was excellent.
