sump pump installation

I had to have a sump pump installed. Done was there in two hours and spent about 1 1/2 hrs. I was not told the cost before the work was done. Two months later the other pump went out. a retired plumber in our community installed it and was shocked to know what I had been charged for the 1st one. They do not break the bill down as to costs of, pump,labor,parts etc. I was charged #788.00 for the pump and another $298.00 for a oneway valve. They said they have a set fee for installation of pump, but did refund me the $298.00 for the valve. The pump costs $200.00 and the valve $17.00. BEWARE of the ridiculous markup and non itemized bill. L Unruh

As agreed, we will be refunding the $298.00 for the valve as that work was included in the installation of the sump pump. Please also note that the sump pump was not the only part used as additional pipe, couplings, and adapters are necessary to properly install the pump itself. We always present pricing upfront and in writing and get a signature approval of the price before performing any work. We are a flat rate company and present pricing for completion of a task, regardless of how long it may take and what obstacles we may encounter so our customers can make informed decisions. Pricing takes into consideration more than the cost of the part and time (which can vary from tech to tech) and we have to account for proper licensing with the state and city, insurance (health, property damage, workman's comp, vehicle, etc.) and other overhead items (gas, office staff, marketing, etc). We try to be as transparent as possible by presenting pricing in writing. Again, thank you for speaking with our management team regarding your concern.
