After reading reviews on line, I scheduled Berk's Electrical to remove 2 existing bedroom ceiling fans and replace them with new fans purchased from Lowe's @ Tustin Marketplace the previous day. Berk's installer, Michael Alvarez, a certified electrician, arrived on time, was courteous, professional, respectful of my home, and wasted no time getting right to work.

After removing the first existing fan, which was hard wired, Michael proceeded to carefully unpack and arrange the parts from the first new fan. He quickly observed there was dust on top of the "new" fan, a scratch on the metal base, dead mosquitoes and a hair inside the light cover! In addition, the battery, which should have been new and separately packaged, was installed inside the remote and completely dead. Apparently, this fan had been previously used for some time before being repackaged, returned and resold as new, without anyone at Lowe's having inspected the contents.

While I was on the phone with Lowe's, Michael carefully re-packaged all the components from the first fan, then inspected the second fan to insure it was in fact new. Upon determining the second fan was new, he proceeded with its installation, while I returned to Lowe's to exchange the "used" fan for a new one.

Lowe's Customer Service representatives did not dispute the exchange and promptly provided me with a new replacement fan. However, they were not authorized to reimburse me in any amount for the additional labor cost associated with the "used" fan.

As a result of the above, the original 2-hour job ended up taking approximately 3 hours. Thankfully, however, rather than having to reschedule a second appointment, Michael stuck with it until everything was properly completed. He did a lovely job and I would not hesitate to request his services again.
