I often use moving companies to move my company furniture from house to house to stage for rentals. I decided to use Family Moving & Storage because of their low fees and good customer reviews. They guy I talked too over the phone "Steve" was knowledgeable and answered my 10+ questions I asked him prior to securing the service. I was accustom to a contract being emailed to me prior to the move. This did not happen. I was just quoted a price over the phone. I was a little concerned about this. I did not want the "Bait and Switch" activity to happen. The $67.00 an hour/ $67.00 trip charge did not change however, I was also charged a
$25.00 fuel surcharge. This caught me by surprise and was not told to me upfront. So the actual trip charge was $92.00. I was no happy about this undisclosed charge. In addition, I have always paid only for time used. When the move was two hours into the service call and the moving guys needed only 5 more minutes to wrap things up, He told me that they do not prorate and that I would have to pay a full $67.00 hourly charge for a 5 minute wrap-up. This was outrageous.
* The movers arrived ahead time: 7:30am for a 8:oclock move which was great. They started at 7:45am and finished up at 9:50am. I was charged for 3 full hours....Not happy......
* No glass was broken and I give them n extra STAR on service for this.
* The driver did not know where he was going to deliver the furniture. Although he had the address ahead of time. He should have map-quest or used a GPS. This caused delays because he was following myself in a car and we missed a correct turn on the freeway. This caused delays in the arrival time. I expect moving companies to be more professional than this.
