First off, I am not a handy person, so if you're that type, keep reading. I purchased a house and it had plain old yellow oak cabinets. After some initial research, I wanted to do a shaker-style espresso theme. I made all my measurements for the design and started getting my cart together at the Cabinet Doors Depot. I had quite a few questions, as I had never done anything like this before, and the customer service from Ray was incredible. Always courteous, always providing very thorough and clearly experienced & expert answers. It probably took me a month to get the design tweaked until it was right, then I made the order. I then prepped for the project by getting all the tools I would need: sandpaper, hand sander, electric sander (MUST), an L-square, lots of utility knife blades, wood glue, finishing nails, and a Virutex laminate splitter (MUST). ***IMPORTANT*** Once my order arrived, I also took a new cabinet door to Home Depot and had them color match it and give me a quart of paint. I read elsewhere that the best (and pretty much only) way to have the inner face frames match the laminate/doors was to paint them the color of the doors. So I got masking tape & paint supplies as well. All the doors and door fronts came as I specified. There were a couple manufacturing defects as to be expected, but nothing that would detract from the overall appearance, and nothing that I've noticed since installation. I made some boo boo's at first, and had to re-order 2 side panels and 2 cabinet doors, and Ray made sure the order was expedited so my project wouldn't be delayed in the end. I am the meticulous type, and my kitchen is quite large, so I estimate I pumped about 40-50 hours into the project, but boy oh boy, did it come out NICE. Everyone who comes over just gapes at the cabinets & design in awe, even the skeptics who didn't think they would like it. Their soft-close hinges and drawer slides were top notch quality, and add an elegant touch. I wouldn't have had a prayer in completing this project without the expert guidance of Ray and the helpfulness of his staff. If I was to recommend any company to a client or friend, it would definitely be the Cabinet Doors Depot. Great pricing, great product, spectacular service. One recommendation I would make to all who undertake this project and are like me (no experience)... the Cabinet Doors Depot has a YouTube video that gives you a general idea of how to get the project accomplished; I guarantee you this is not enough information. I would recommend the seven-step "Cabinet Refacing Tutorial" on YouTube, which was actually made by a competitor to the Cabinet Doors Depot, but had inferior pricing, customer service, and a difficult ordering interface on their website. But you will need the detailed information in these videos to complete the project, and it will also tell you some other tools/tricks you will need aside from the materials I listed at the beginning of this review. Good luck to all, put your confidence in the Cabinet Doors Depot, I'm sure glad I did!
