We found Kensington Park for my mom after my daughter did some internet searching. She lives in the area so she visited a lot, and picked it because of the personality of the place, which is what we like most about it. My mother moved there from Connecticut so it was quite a big move, and now she lives in an independent living space. The people at Kensington Park could not have been more supportive in every way with the transition, they've been absolutely remarkable. They inform the family what's going on all the time. In the last place she lived it seemed like people were just a number, but at Kensington it's such a community oriented space. The people who go there like it for that reason. It's very very social and people are extremely friendly, and the workers are very kind too. It can be easy to fall through the cracks in some of these places, but at Kensington they build a community - for instance, they have a happy hour before dinner every night, and everyone pulls up chairs to sit around together and talk. And families are highly encouraged to come visit and eat there too. They just really support the whole feeling of community, and that's really special. The price might be a little high, but all of these places are, so I feel like we get what we pay for. My mother has been there for 4 months now and she loves it.
