Mars itself gets five stars, the installers only three.
Mars Carpets/ Abbey Floors did an excellent job helping me choose a very nice carpet. I was happy with their service and the quality of the product. However, the installers missed a lot of details. They did a good job matching the carpet up but there were several inconsistencies in the installation. The baseboards and edge strips were replaced in some places, but not all. Some were re-used. Some places are missing them entirely. Also, there are some loose boards under the carpet. When they ripped up the old carpet, they should have mentioned it to me and I would have paid extra to have them nailed firmly back into place. Now that the new carpet is installed, I can't do anything about it. But every time I walk over loose boards I can hear and feel them clacking. After spending over fourteen thousand dollars on carpeting that will last twenty years, I was a little bit disappointed that the installers didn't take more care with the details. I may live with it or I may find myself ripping it all up in a few years to have it redone properly. If Mars Carpets/ Abbey Floors got better installers or even gave these guys a checklist to work from, I would give them five stars across the board. If I do recommend them, I will qualify that recommendation with the warning to make sure the installers do consistent, quality work.
