I found the salespeople extremely helpful and informative. They were on the spot with getting my quote and calling me back with any questions I had. The installer ended up coming by himself, his co-worker was sick. So he started to pull up the ceramic tile from the bathroom floor and didn't tape the room off. When I came upstairs, I just saw dust flying out into the hallway and downstairs into the living room. He stopped and offered to get a drop cloth, but I had one which I lent him. Nobody warned me ahead of time that it would be a mess. I also felt like he was hurrying because he was by himself, and did a little sloppy job on the trim and caulking. I'm not a picky person, but I expect people that I am paying to do a good job. And he did do a good job for the most part, but might have been a bit flummoxed by doing it alone. It was a bigger job by himself, and he might have cut some corners, so he could be gone by five o'clock. I've felt like this with other contractors who are in the house, that they don't respect the house. If I had known this ahead of time, I would have had booties for him to wear. Other than that, everything was fine. I know it's a generalization, but the lack of respect might be a generational issue, younger people are still learning and don't always have the same kind of respect for other people's homes.
