Vulcan Basement Waterproofing

Did not like the way the company dealt with things!

Vulcan Basement Waterproofing was very expensive! I had no idea that when they were doing the stuff in the basement, that cost thousands of dollars, part of it would get chopped away. I thought they were going to fill it in, instead it was all chopped around and they had to redo the whole thing. I was there alone with no one to help me, and I felt very naive. I had somebody come back a year or so later, and I just wanted to know some things before I had to decide about them, and he was very upset that I just wanted to ask questions and not have work done. It was so disgusting! I couldn't believe it. I was being very nice and generous, and trying to say I was not criticizing the people that did the work, just the way the company did things. I know part of it was my own fault, I should have questions before. But I really think the problem lies with the company, not the people who did the work.

Dear Ms. Heinemann,

I am genuinely sorry that you feel this way about our company. Our initial installation was a perimeter pressure relief system and yes, we do have to cut away the cement around the perimeter of the basement to install the system. We did recement the floor back when we were done and left a floating floor (gap) that is designed to catch any water that enters the basement from anywhere higher than the basement floor. It is harder for us to leave the gap than it is to just cement back to the wall but we feel the benefit to our customers in having that additional safety warrants the extra effort on our part. I am also sorry that you feel our estimator was anything but professional. We pride ourselves in being the most professional company in the service industry and I’m sorry we fell short in your eyes. This estimator is from our Stone Flooring Division and was out to visit you, at your request, concerning our stone flooring product and was not trained to answer waterproofing questions. Please let us know if you ever need to ask any questions or need to use your Service Guarantee for the work we did. I promise you that we will do our best to regain the faith and trust you had in us when you initially hired us. We are here to help you if you need it.

Sincerely,
Matthew Verville
