Hey everybody, warning do not take your car down the street to American Tire and Auto. At first, they really helped my fiancé out, buying her old car which enabled her to put a down payment on her new vehicle. It’s because of this, I took my car their twice for a routine tire replacement and an oil change. The tire replacement went just fine but the oil change… they literally screwed up my brand new 2020 Hyundai Elantra by not screwing in the drain plug from my engine tight enough. I took it there on August 7th, right before we took a road trip out to Ohio. Exactly one month later on Sept 7th, we were broken down on the side of the road, engine completely seized, cause due to LACK OF DRAIN PLUG. Because some ones negligence and inability to properly screw the plug back on tight enough, over time it literally fell out of my engine. They are extremely lucky that Progressive car insurance is paying for my replacement, or else they would have a lawsuit on their hands. Or we could have been completely stranded out in Ohi tbh. I’m still thinking about reporting them to the BBB as they put me down on the phone and my fiancé on the phone, treating us like “weak minded” women. They literally tried to tell us that it was due to too much pressure in the engine while Hyundai is saying, yeah no, it’s due to some one screwing up. If they cared about their customers, they would have tried to resolve such issue because I’m sure they have insurance for things like this. What kind of response is, “sorry but we aren’t liable for that. It happened over a month ago. If it was our fault, it would have fell out a week later, not a month later.” I hardly ever put down business’ to groups of people but it’s from their lack of compassion and treatment that I am now telling everyone caution!
