Bostech Services

Two weeks later, 4 Visits and still not fixed.

I had to use Bostech through my home warranty. Becky in scheduling was very accommodating and kind to work with as I had to have them come out MULTIPLE times. However, great customer service does not fix a poor technician. I just bought my home that has a relatively new HVAC system in it, when it went from working at 110% to 30% I called. Something happened overnight that caused a decrease in airflow and service to less than half the cooling capability. The first 3 visits they sent the SAME TECHNICIAN out to "fix" the problem, Travis Jackson. Travis spent HOURS here each visit and never found the problem, even though he looked at all the obvious reasons, it was obviously something non-traditional. His first visit he said the unit was dirty and that cleaning it would help, and it was just not working because it was hot outside. After he left from cleaning the unit and my generous tip, the AC still did not work any better (as I expected). I explained to him it was working perfectly and showed him where the previous 5 days had the exact same temperature readings outside, he still insisted on saying it was just because it was hot. He came back that day, removed the "dirty filter" (that he replaced 2-3 week earlier on a different visit) and then left saying the same thing, it's just hot outside. I insisted on another appointment that it was still not working and he came back out for another visit that laster over 3 hours. He said first it was the dirty ac compressor outside, then the dirty filter (that was now removed thanks to him), then the duct work was poorly hung and there were kinks in the system. I kept insisting none of those would explain the drastic change, so he continued looking for excuses versus fixes. He then found a duct intake that was not attached to anything, he said he would close it off but never did allowing it to continue to suck insulation and hot air from the attic into my system. Regardless, non of those are reasons the unit was running as poorly as it was after working so good, the duct work didn't change over night. During is 3 and a half hour visit the temperature did not drop a single degree, NOT ONE, but he still said..."it's because it's hot outside". I finally gave up and let him leave. Becky helped me schedule another appointment with a senior technician, Ron Martin. Ron was fantastic and did his job and found what the realistic problem was a dirty clogged fan motor from blown installation, that was enhanced by Travis removing the filter. Ron restricted the intake that was sucking in attic air (something Travis never did), and then proceeded to find a way to fix the rest in a timely matter. Unfortunately due to home warranties and the limited scheduling ability with Bostech my unit is still not fixed even though Ron knows what needs to be done, he needs to get permission to do so. It won't be fixed today, and I imagine won't be fixed in the next few days. I have spent over 7 hours with Bostech techs, and hundreds of dollars on an increase AC bill since they can't fix it. In addition to that Travis' notes are not accurate and I am having to fight with the home warranty people because his notes are flat out inaccurate. Travis seemed to want to do a good job, but wasn't humble or mature enough to ask for help or not capable enough to address that there is a bigger issue. I would not use Bostech in fear that you may get a poor technician and they are not able to schedule and or fix things in a timely manner. Especially if it is not an easy, obvious fix.
