This process was really quick and easy. It did not make my payments smaller however I was suppose to pay my credit cards off a lot quicker which was fine by me.
Upon reviewing the whole process before applying, I was told that doing the debt management program would not affect my ability to get a mortgage or a vehicle. Low and behold, I sell my house and was declined for a mortgage all because I have this 'credit counselling' on my credit report. Not because I had bad credit...JUST BECAUSE I HAD 'CREDIT COUNSELLING' on my credit report.
Trying to pay this debt off earlier (so that I can get it off my credit report) was a whole run around as well. We will call you when we get the balances from your credit card companies...I waited 2 weeks, decided to call them back to get an update, was originally told they were still waiting and then I was told they had the balance right there in front of them. It was entered last week but they didn't have time to call me because they have many other clients!
