Oradell Animal Hospital

Sad ending

On August 12, 2022, I brought my dog, Frankie to Oradell Animal Hospital. Frankie had previously been diagnosed with congestive heart failure and was in end stage. The vet and I discussed possibilities. It was decided that I would leave Frankie there for a few hours so they could put him in an oxygen tank to see if his condition improved. When I came back the vet advised me that Frankie’s condition did not improve. I decided it was time to let him go. I requested that he be removed from the oxygen tank so that I could hold him during the euthanasia procedure. I walked with him in my arms to the exam room along with a technician. I placed Frankie on the exam table where he took one long breath and collapsed and did not move again. The vet rushed in the room and immediately started to administer the medication to end life. In my opinion this was not necessary since Frankie was gone. I received a bill from OAH for $785.72, one line item was $300 for euthanasia. I called OAH and was told by Megan that she spoke with the vet and Frankie was suffering so she gave the shot. I completely disagreed with this assessment and felt that there was no reason to give the shot and I should not have to pay the $300. I was basically told too bad. I spoke with my attorney who wrote a letter to OAH. After no contact from them my attorney called and spoke with Megan who said she sent the letter to the OAH attorney but refused to give the name of the attorney. In the meantime, I paid $485.72 of the bill because it was the right thing to do. My attorney left repeated messages for Megan who never once returned any of the calls. My attorney then reached out to the manager of OAH, Rita, who finally gave my attorney the name of the attorney. Joseph Torre. Messages were left on his phone, but nobody returned any messages. I have been using OAH since they were in Oradell for emergency and specialty vet services. I have had many rescues animals. Upwards of probably 25 animals. And currently have 6. I am a loyal customer who always goes there when in need of their services even though there are many bad reviews from people, I continued to be a customer. Now after all these years, I will never step foot back in their faciality with any of my animals ever again. Why? Because there is no reason at all for them not to understand my unhappiness with the $300 charge AND for them to not respond to repeated requests to discuss this situation. I have no choice but to pay the $300 because I am sure they will sue me for that money. But in the future, they will never get another dime from me. My money and my pets will go someplace else. How incredibly sad that after all these years this is what it comes to.
